Tile makers have been scrambling to find new ways to fit new water-cooling technology into their tubs in an effort to save money and reduce carbon emissions.
A number of tiles have been released over the last year that promise to make water cooler.
One of the most prominent, a tile called ‘Flintlock’ by American designer Matthew Flicker, uses a transparent coating to reduce the amount of water that hits the bottom of the tub, while others such as ‘Cupcake’ from German designer Tobias Körner have a glass bottom, allowing for more water to pass through.
Flicker and Körners’ tiles are also the first tiles to be shown at the International Design Show in San Francisco last month.
Tile maker Tile’s ‘Flinterlock’ is a clear glass tile that minimises water impact on the bottom.
